As the end of 2021 approaches, the courts continue to get through the cases, both in terms of paperwork and hearings.

The courts will still operate over the Christmas period with the exception of the following dates when the courts will be closed:

  • Friday 24 December 2021 (County Courts, Crown Courts, High Court and Court of Appeal (Royal Courts of Justice and Rolls Building) only)
  • Monday 27 December 2021
  • Tuesday 28 December 2021
  • Monday 3 January 2022

It is usually the case that the courts get through less work over the holidays, as court staff and Judges take holiday and many parties to claims are unavailable. Generally, the bailiffs hold off taking any enforcement action during the Christmas period.

However, deadlines continue to apply as normal and hearings may still take place, both in person and remotely.
